The new progressivism is just a return to a new kind of slavery, where the enslavement is, as before, an enslavement of the mind, will, and body. (Read David W. Blight's Pulitzer Prize winning Frederick Douglas: Prophet of Freedom, and, if you haven't yet read it, The Autobiography of Malcolm X.<br /><br />You have to understand slavery to understand the "progressive" movement which seeks to impose a new kind of slavery.<br /><br />We see the same impulse toward slavery in the cultural riots in Hong Kong, where the populace is rising up to oppose the legislature imposing laws to allow deportation of individuals to mainland China. Slavery.<br /><br />Call it ultra-conservatism or ultra-liberalism, but stand up to impose liberty. Celebrate emancipation, once again. The stream of migrants from Central America are risking everything, left every comfort behind, are scaling tall fences, to escape slavery that others seek to impose on them. <br /><br />Get comfortable with the true picture of slavery in the original colonies and later in the constitutional first republic, as it was called, until slavery was eliminated during a civil war, as an act of the war itself.
